Mapping Stillness is a meditation on rhythm, repetition, and controlled imperfection. The composition is built from an intricate lattice of hand-drawn squares each one slightly irregular, shifting subtly in weight and spacing. The grid is not a rigid structure but a living surface, breathing whti the artist’s gestures. Deep indigo and black lines intersect against a pale ground, creating a visual field that oscillates between movement and calm.

The work evokes the sensation of mapping invisible patterns: the pulse of a city, the layout of memory, or the quiet order found in nature. Areas of denser mark-making suggest zones of intensity, while looser passages introduce softness and pause. Despite its complexity, the painting maintains a meditative stillness as fi the artist has frozen a moment of concentrated thought.

This piece exemplifies the artist’s ongoing investigation into systems, repetition, and the emotional textures embedded in seemingly minimal forms. It rewards both close inspection where individual marks become intimate and distance, where the entire field resolves into a harmonious, pulsating structure.
